About Alan

Alan began his interaction with football as many others do, through kick abouts with kids at school and neighbours in the street.  Having two older brothers, and being too small to be positioned outfield, Alan was made to play in the goals...unbeknown to him at the time, that forced role would become one of choice in later years.

Signing for Lossie at age 16, and then Elgin City at 17, Alan trialled for Aberdeen shortly after and was seen by Alex Ferguson.  At Ferguson's recommendation, Alan then trialled for Dundee United, the team for which he signed at age 19 and stayed with for the next 9 years.

Continuing professionally until age 42, Alan gained a wealth of experience at a number of clubs including St. Johnstone, Livingston and Gretna.   Having started in more than 550 games, Alan latterly transferred his skills and knowledge as a coach for teams including Rangers and Dunfermline.

Now settled back in his home region of Moray, Alan is keen to provide the specialist goalkeeping tuition and support that he himself lacked until 10 years into his professional career at age 28.  He believes that early development in this definitive role is vital for individuals with ambitions to progress in the unique position of goalkeeper.

'It's so difficult trying to identify just one career highlight.  I've represented Scotland...I've played at European level...I've been privileged to work with so many talented players and coaches...and I've had three streakers run at me during my time on the pitch!'
